| What is the serial number of the oldest Gunnar? My guess is that it is a Rockhound from 1998. I have a Rockhound that I purchased new in late 1998 and its serial number is L98029, I've always wondered how many Gunnars came before it. |

History Time!
The very first Gunnars were three Rock Hounds built for the MicroSupreme Team out of Bend Oregon. Led by veteran cross-country rider Paul Willerton, the team put the Gunnar name on the map. We shipped them on July 15, 1998. We built the next Rock Hounds for the Interbike Show that year and delivered them in October.
Interbike 1998 was also when we introduced the Roadie (then known as the Tire-Biter - named after Porgy Tirebiter of Firesign Theatre fame).
In the mean time, we started building CrossHairs - our first real consumer bike introduction. Shipments started in August.
Your serial number, L98 - indicates the 25th Rock Hound ever made. Congrats! _________________ Richard Schwinn |

| Thanks for the response Richard! I thought mine was a pretty early bike, it really has been a trusted friend for a lot years and is one of my all time favorite bikes (along with my present orange '07 Sport and a '87ish Schwinn Circiut I owned in my younger days). |
