I really love the artisan version of the Waterford logo. Are there any plans to do the same with the Gunnar logo?

i agree... the wateford logos look fantastic... both the block style and the cursive. Something rubs me the wrong way with the Gunnar logos... the way they stretch across the entire down tube.

Could not disagree more with the observation on the Gunnar decal. It's one of the coolest graphics out there and, like the stoic Green Bay Packer "G" on their helmet, is a visual that connects to a quality brand. I'll admit that it is was one of the things that tipped me towards a Gunnar. Just repainted my Roadie adding all kinds of graphics to top tube, forks, a custom made head badge etc. but would not touch that cool Gunnar logo on the down tube.

As stoic as the Waterford builders may be in simply putting out great bikes I meant to say the Gunnar logo is iconic. It reminds me of the great "Pow", "Bang" and "Kabamb" type graphics from the Batman T.V. series of the 70's. Then again, maybe I'm just recalling my childhood fansination with Cat Woman when looking at my Gunnar...

Thanks for your comments.

We're constantly on the lookout for re-styling possibilities. We weigh it against the value of having consistency over time. After all, this typeface has decorated Gunnars for a dozen years. It's designed to communicate our basic Gunnar values of toughness and strength. Those values are easily forgotten when you see virtuoso welding, a cool custom paint job or you heft a sub-16 pound complete Roadie.

We started a project last year to update the downtube logo typeface, but nothing we found had got our enthusiasm up enough to justify a change. That day will one day come, for sure.

We do have riders who contribute logo art for their individual bike. If you have something in mind, you can, too. Pricing is by quote and starts at $200 (prices as of early 2010) for a custom stenciled logo job.

You can order the shorter downtube decals we use on our panel jobs as part of the custom decal upgrade.
