As the title really. Anyone got one of these built up? I'd love to see some pictures. I'd also like to know how you get on with the disc brake on the chainstay. I've heard comments (regarding other brands) that with an Avid BB7 road brake, the heel can catch the adjuster dial.

Other than that, it looks like a near perfect frame for my commuting/light touring needs. My only problem is rust, so I was originally looking for an aluminium frame. Seems they use a synthetic salt on the roads in the UK. It's cheaper and more corrosive than rock salt!!!!!

Hello Onzadog,
We are the UK distributor for Gunnar bikes in the UK.
We have a Fastlane frameset in stock (56cm) which will be built up over the next couple of weeks as a display/demo bike. Your welcome to come and try it out for heel clearance etc.
If you apply 'framesaver' to the inside of your frame and give the bike a rinse in clean water periodically you should have no real problems with rust. Aluminium frames may not rust but they do corrode, in fact far quicker in salt water than a steel frame will!

Thanks for the reply guys. As it happens, I was just having a look around your site. I might have to give you a shout at some point then.

Our current site is more of a holding page while the full project comes to fruition....
We keep a good stock of Gunnar frames in and we sell the superlative Waterford full custom frames as well so do give us a shout if you need more info.

Onzadog,

I just got a Fastlane and only have a very short ride the other day, 11 miles. Waiting for the snow to clear here in Mass.

Didn't find any issues with the heel. Need to put more time in the saddle to give a report but first impression = very impressed :)

will post a picture during the weekend.

Even though it's labeled crosshairs it's really a FastLane

This is my re-post from the following thread: http://gunnarbikes.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=65&start=135

HELLO!
I purchased my Gunnar Fastlane last Thursday, the 3rd of June and absolutely love it to bits! I was fitted on a Waterford machine back in April and have patiently been waiting for this beautiful work of art, and boy, has it paid off to wait patiently. I am all smiles with the look, feel, and overall robustness that this machine offers me. Since the weekend I have put only 54 miles on it, not much to really make an accurate review but for what I gather thus far, this Bike rocks!!!

Current setup is:

SRAM Rival Group set components, chain wheels, cassette, derailleurs, brake levers and cranks.
Shimano XT Disc hubs FR/RR.
DT Swiss R450 Alloy rims.
Ruffy-Tuffy Tyres.
Chris King headset.
FSA Bars and seat post.
WTB Speed seat.
Blackburn Flea red and clear light / flashers.
Cannondale seat bag.
Arundle plastic bottle cages.
And a Schwinn computer.

Day one, standing in front of Skiers Peak, now named Outdoor Action Company. Fitter / Owner Chad is taking the photo of me here.

Even the local geese wanted to check out Gunnar!

All in all, I will be using my bicycle for a daily commuter (26 mile round trip) and for light country touring. I have been using my current bicycle for all my short trips like shopping, dining, and small errand commuting and absolutly love the lifestyle.

Thanks for reading, hope to see ya around!

OH, here is a video walkaround: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybS5N7rnG5g enjoy!

I don't have HTML so I'll have to post a link to each of the pictures of my new Fastlane.

I hope this works...too bad this site is so lame.

Here's a link to a picture of my Fast Lane, which I have had for about 2 months.
http://gallery.me.com/fernsten/100091/100_2460
It's painted sunset red over fine gold and set up with Ultegra components, Avid BB7 brakes, ZTR Crest tubeless 29er mountain bike rims, 700c x 35 tires.
I've been using it on rough pavement, gravel, light trail, city riding; and it's been great. I'll probably use it for light touring, as well. It also gives a comfortable ride on pavement, if a bit sluggish due to the big tires.
The heel of my size 11 shoe passes within about 2 cm of the adjusting knob on my chain stay mounted brake caliper.

It's not a problem for me, but might be an issue for someone with a very large foot.
