Do any of you techie/geometry gurus know if going from a 170mm to a 172.5mm crank size will significantly affect my riding performance on my 2004 56cm semi-compact Roadie. I have shorter legs with an inseam about 31 inches and found an Ultegra 6650 compact crankset i love at a killer price. When I plug numbers into those crank size slot machine calculators the 170mm usually comes up all cherries.

If the price is right, I'd say go for it. I run 172.5 on my road bikes but have 170 on my singlespeed and mountain bikes. I honestly can.'t tell the difference, but you never know until you try. Worst case you sell it.

got the 172.5 crank and it works great...thanks for the advice. As it turns out the recommended crank length encompasses an inseam to the floor and not like the one taken for pants. With that measurement the 172.5 is spot on. Love the look of ice gray crank against Gunnar Black.
