Okay - today's trivia. I've had all I can take of the Great Closet Rebuild Project (which arrived at the right time, it is b!@@&y freezing here near DC) and have been wondering about this for a while.

On the main Gunnar "Models" site, there's that "Roadie" in silver to wineberry - one seriously good looking bike.

But today's trivia - what make / model are those handlebars?

Why? you are entitled to ask!

Well, spousal unit reckons I am worse over handlebars than she is over white blouses. And that's saying something.

The ones on that Roadie look from the side, which is the view no website or catalogue ever shows, to be pretty much what I've been looking for. With the drops end 'flat', the tops just aft of the drop bend are also well night flat and the Shimano levers come straight off close to horizontal. The 'ergo' part doesn't have that bump in it - Ritchies are the worst for me, my hands just slide off those bumps, must be something to do with having something new to market.

I've been through a lot of 'bars trying to find that, and hope someone in Gunnar's kennel can help out.

Thanks in advance.

Dereck

Derek my man - Those are quite cleary Deda Magic Bar and stem combo.
Check it out on their site:
http://www.dedaelementi.com/cat_racing.asp

Look on www.pricepoint.com for best price - Jenson USA will price match.

Also check out the Easton EA70 bar - Aluminum and very similar layout to the Deda's.

All those reason are why people ride them. It would cost me too much to switch over to a common bar set from my Ritchey's at this point. Maybe next time!

Enjoy!
Steve

Hi Steve
Suspect you might be right. I've got their 215 shallow drop on my Gunnar Sport, but as weight falls away, they are starting to feel too shallow. Will have to cast around locals and see if anyone's got the "Magic" so I can have a grapple.

Might be some cheap Ritchies going around soon  Love the tops of my Biomax Pros, but those bumps on the drops I can't live with.

Makes me glad modern handlebar tape is re-usable!

Speaking of bars - we need these in Gunnar -

But I might get some Union Jack ones for this season :)

Derek,

You should just get the K-wing and give it a try. how is the wife doing? I know it is cold, but I am thinking of a nice century out the WOD on Friday morning. Up for a long ride?
