Hi Dave
My brother has a Schwinn Paramount from I'm guessing 1990 or 91 that was his first racing bike.

I'm thinking its called something like a Paramount OS and was built with Shimano 105. Its kind of a white/grey speckle paint scheme.

Was Waterford responsible for building/designing those? Are the Gunnar Roadies the direct descendent of those bikes.

Thanks

Hi Inghammer,

Marc Muller designed the OS frames in 1988 when he ran the Paramount facility. The OS design carried through when Waterford began in 1993 then to Gunnar in 1998. The Roadie is a direct descendent of the OS Paramounts.

The OS design still is used on the lugged Waterfords, whil all of our TIG product (sans '33) is OS2.

A look at the serial number will let you know whether it was made here in Waterford or in Japan.

Hi Dave
What in the serial number would tell where it was made?

PS
I hit the cyclocross podium for the first time ever this weekend. 3rd place!

Again the Crosshairs was flawless, even if my dismounts weren't.

Great job on the podium finish!

US made Paramounts will have a serial number on the bottom bracket that contain a series like this:

C91123

C= the month of march
91 is the year
123 would be the sequence it was built.

The Wateford site has a section with a lot of details for anyone wanting to decipher the code of their Paramounts.
