Hope this is ok to post. I'm looking to order a Gunnar Sport soon and am thinking about the build. I've never done a build before, and of course it will be actually done by a LBS. However, this is what I'm thinking and would love comments. Riding style is 40-80 mile solo or club rides on a weekend day. About 60 miles various during the week. no racing, not speedy. Centuries on the horizon. I live in a very hilly area and run about 210 pounds.

Gunnar custom threaded Fork
SRAM Rival front Derailleur
SRAM Apex Medium Cage Rear Derailleur
SRAM Red Shifters
SRAM Rival Crankset (compact) and BB
SRAM APEX Cassette (for the 32 teeth)
Tektro R730 brakes
Chris King Gripnut Headset
Brooks B17 saddle
VO Grand Cru long setback seatpost
VO Grand Cru Classic Round Bend handlebar
VO Grande Compe ENE Quill

Existing everything else.
Thoughts? Any good options for reducing the overall spend?
Thanks much.

Looks pretty good to me. Though Sram is coming out with Rival, Force, and Red cages that can handle a huge cassette like Apex, so you could run all the same group and still be able to get the 32t cassette in. I've read great things about the VO Grand Cru brakes too, though I'm running the shimano ones with no issue.

Cool - thanks for the feed back, I hadn't heard that about the other SRAM groups.

+1 on the Grand Cru brakes. These are easily the best 57mm brake available right now.
