What tires are you folks using on your Sport? I'm looking for the biggest tire I can fit. It seems that tire labels don't always tell the whole story. I know that some Pasela 700x35's are no wider than some 700x32's, for example.

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks for the question Bill,

As you are aware, there is enormous variablility in tire sizes and they are a moving target. We anticipate that the average user of the Gunnar Sport will use a typical (say Continental or Michelin) 700 x 28c tires w/ fenders, 700 x 32c without. The largest tire will be limited by the brakes and not the frame. We recommend a test fit for the particular tire you would like to use.

Best,

I am using 700 x 32c Pasela Compes with SKS fenders and Ultegra long reach brakes on my Sport. So far so good!

Thanks Guys.

Here's what I found so far. Pasela 700x37 CXT's don't fit. I tried them because they're pretty narrow and measured a hair under 35mm on my Velocity Dyad rims. My Rivendell Rolly Pollys (28mm) fit, of course. Next I will try some Avocet 700x35's. I hear they are 32mm wide.

Hey, take a look at my webpage. It's all about my Sport.

I think I found 'em. They're Avocet FasGrip Duro Plus/20 slicks from Harris Cyclery. They're marked 700x35, but are actually closer to 32 mm wide. I would have to let the air out of the tires to clear the Shimano R600 Long-reach Dual-Pivot Calipers if the tires were just a smidgen wider. They ride very nicely, no pictures on the web page yet, but they don't look too different from the Roly-Poly's in the picture.

Thanks Greg and Dave!

Bill
