Stack and Reach
|
Gunnar is all about good fit - striving both both comfort and performance. We're also making it easier to fit you to the right Gunnar by adding two sets of measurements to our geometry tables - Stack and Reach as well as Fitmaster settings. Because there are so many kinds of geometries - different slopes as well as seat angle/top tube combinations, it's a challenge to interpret just which size is best for you. Stack and Reach is a system of measurements that cuts through the complexities to get to the pure numbers a fitter needs. Since a growing number of shops use the Fitmaster to help with performing professional fits, we made it easy by providing the exact numbers by which to set up the machine so you can try out your fit, even if they don't have your size in stock.
- Stack and Reack: Remember your geometry class when they talked about X and Y coordinates on a grid. That's how stack and reach works. It's the position of the top center of the head tube in relation to the bottom bracket. In our grid system, 0,0 is the center of the bottom bracket. Stack is the vertical distance between the bottom bracket and the top center of the head tube. Reach is the horizontal distance between the same two points. This locks in the head tube position, giving your fitter a solid platform on which to choose a stem and number of spacers needed for you to achieve your best fit.
- Fitmaster Settings: The Waterford Fitmaster (fitmaster.net) helps a number of Gunnar dealers perform professional fits, both with selecting the right size and, if necessary, specifying he right custom geometry. These are the settings for length of the head tube (from the upper to the lower pivot point) and the distance from the bottom bracket to the lower head tube pivot point. This makes setting up a Fitmaster easy so you can try out your fit before you buy.
We've been using these statistics on our custom fits for some time. Now, your shop can easily get this information and help you select the right Gunnar for you!
